Quarter Acre Policies

Economy

Between 1890 and the late 1950’s New Zealand’s per capita GDP was always one of the ten highest in the world. We are now about number 40. What went wrong?

Education

We currently have a massive skills shortage in most trades and our workers are amongst the least productive in the western world. Why is this?

Housing

We believe that the high cost of housing in New Zealand is a social and economic disaster of the highest order.

Transport

We believe expanding the city with better roading is the answer with lower traffic densities, higher safety rates and greener outcomes.

Immigration

We seek an immigration policy that provides migrants that contribute to our country.

About Quarter Acre

Quarter Acre is a new political party aiming to raise New Zealand back to the top of the prosperity and quality of life tables.

From 1900 to 1950 New Zealand was one of the most successful and equal, countries in the world.  Our GDP per capita was consistently one of the five highest.  This success was built on scientific achievements and an open economy.

We are now about 40th in GDP and our housing is the most expensive in the world.  We have diseases in South Auckland that have not been seen for over 100 years and rapidly rising inequality.

We want to reduce taxes for low income workers and companies, free up land supply to reduce housing costs and encourage investment and growth through reforms to education. We believe  this will return a broad based prosperity to the whole country.
